a full 24 hours later since i left helsinki for the #OPF 's event, #OAG3 and I'm still not home yet. #digitalpreservation is a more stable sector than uk rail services i can tell ya that for sure

Great presentation right now by @archivist_Liz by the work they did together with @MediaArea on LeaveSD for AV migration. I can only second Elizabeth's praise and awe for the work that @JeromeM does. if you're ever looking for a dev partner for AV - MediaArea should be your number 1 go-to!

Just found out that the new Dutch funded OPF product ViPER (Virtual research environment) is named after the BSG Colonial Vipers. I'm 100% sold! It's an easy-to-install virutal machine running with popular open source preservation tools with GUIs like DROID, HandBrake, JHOVE, ....

Asbjørn Skødt is presenting the current status of the OPF spreadsheet validator. CSV and static image formats are only rudimentarily supported currently.
The specification is avail on github:

fascinating presentation by our OPF colleagues at CSC this morning. they talked about their triage process in automatic file format identification and how they tie together different tools for extracting techMD. couldn't type fast enough to report here - will have to add info later. #OAG3
... pew. was just asked to answer a question about "advocacy and funding". not my cup of tea. reminds me of why i never wanted to be in a position that contains the words "lead/manager". look where that got me. how do i get out?

conformance levels of #JHOVE (and other validators):
(1) well-formed = meets the purely syntactic requirements (i.e., what's in the standard)
(2) vaild - well-formed and meets the higher-level semantic req (i.e., what's in the schema)
(3) consistent - valid and internally extracted info is consistent with externally supplied information (i.e., what's in your policy)
OPF's Advisory Group now kicking off. Love the fact that there is an alternative agenda item (veraPDF training!) for virtual attendees only during the on-site tour #OAG3
