Watching the @The_OAH panel webinar "Teaching Reconstruction in a New Age of Democratic Crisis" at #OAH2023.

Teaching Reconstruction is so important, to link the issues of the Civil War to Jim Crow era and current events. The Reconstruction amendments to the Constitution are crucial for many Supreme Court rulings on civil rights to this day.

And yet students often aren't taught these topics well or at all.

Really interesting to hear from the panelist working in K-12 education on this topic.
