The lake is calm, the night is quiet,
Mars is shining in the sky.
The moon is full, a silver light,
To guide me, as I glide by.
The oars are creaking in the boat,
As I row across the lake.
The gentle breeze beneath my coat,
Keeps me alert and wide awake.
The pub and ale behind, I know,
Yet I'm glad to be alone,
For I can feel the lake below,
As I row my way back home.
