I am CNRS Scientist at Sorbonne University and the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations. I study the effects of global change on marine ecosystems and their services. I also investigate ocean-based solutions to mitigate and adapt to climate change.

Like coastal #BlueCarbon restoration, the recovery of #whale populations is a low regret strategy. That is, it has many benefits and must be aggressively promoted while recognising that its contribution to #climate #mitigation is a minor co-benefit.

Disappointing....

Although overfishing, global heating and acidification are existential risks to “the lungs of the planet”, there are only two mentions of “ocean” in the latest working agreement at Cop15.
