Sonoma beta continues to sit in my system settings, letting me know it’s there, ready to install. I’m not even remotely interested because 1) I’m already running (read:struggling) unsupported Ventura on a 2012 Mac mini and 2) Sonoma wouldn’t give me any extra needed functionality.
Gotta hand it to the #OCLP team for getting me this far though. What a brilliant patching system #Opencore is…

Interesting week. I got my Mac mini up and running on Ventura with #OCLP. Updated the MacBook Air at the same time. Then someone gifted me a Dell Latitude notebook at work. I also have a Dell Optiplex SFF. Think I’m gonna slide the Pop OS! stick from the OP to the Latitude and see how it runs. If it runs well I’ll put Pop on an SSD and put it back in the OP.
Not sure if I want to upgrade to #macOSVentura on the #MacbookAir as I’m pretty happy with #macOSMonterey at the moment. I’ve used #OCLP to get the OS beyond what #Apple says is possible, so there’s also the risk an update could bring on an unsupported machine.

Wow! That was quite a struggle!
After I changed hard drives, Mac OS flashdrives refused to boot/install. Tried all my install flashdrives. Every day. Pressing ALT on a wired keyboard.
Finally one worked: It failed to install normally, but managed to reinstall High Sierra from a time machine (originally from another hard drive).
Ran that a few days. Worked up my courage to update to Ventura again yesterday using the OCLP made USB installer.
Finally works again! #OCLP #OpenCore

FOSStastic apps are everywhere! Here is yet another cool project I’ve come across during my journey into #Linux and #OpenSource software. Please #support your favorite projects!
OpenCore Legacy Patcher - Run up-to-date macOS on your unsupported Mac.
This handy little utility allows me to run #macOS #Ventura on my 2014 #MacBook Air with NO issues whatsoever. It even works through software version updates!

Reading up on OpenCore Legacy Patcher (#OCLP). Tempted to have a go at it with the old late-2012 iMac...
PSA: if you have an older Mac stuck with Big Sur and want to run a newer OS, I recommend you check out #oclp - it enables booting newer OS like #monterey and #ventura on older #macintosh hardware. If you’re moderately technically inclined the process is straightforward.
One suggestion is to use a FAST USB stick or even better an external bootable USB drive - will make the process much quicker. https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/

Okay. Updated my iMac 13,1 to macOS 13.2. It has survived a reboot and writing #OCLP to the EFI.
Then I found that Barrier didn't work in 13.2. There's a fork of Barrier called Input Leap which is continuing the project after the repo owner went away. But... they don't release binaries yet.
Good news, if I can build it from source you can too. https://github.com/input-leap/input-leap
Amazing work from #OCLP https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/. My old iMac from 2011 still running MacOS, up to date 13.2!
You might say I am a secondhand #Apple fan. IMHO the #multinational asks extortionate prices on upgrades and repairs.
Apple claims it is the company that delivers the products for #developers, #video and #audio #producers, and asks prices almost 59% higher than Windows machines.
But are the #Mac #iMac #MacbookPro really better than regular PC's?
There are Pro and Cons as always.
During the energy crisis it would be better to buy a #M1 because it only uses 15 watts per hour under load, while the Windows machine with the same performance would use a lot more juice.
With the high energy prices the payback period would be fast and a win for the Mac.
But do I want to make Apple richer? NO.
A company that pays #slave wages through #Foxconn I don't want to support.
A company that doesn't care about #humanrights #HRW I don't want to support by buying new products from them..
So why do I have Apple products?
I could buy them very cheap in the marketplace, 75 euro for a MacBook Pro 15 inch i7 in perfect condition. A 17 inch for 60 euro.
I upgraded them to Big Sur with #OCLP, bought some cheap #SSD's from Crucial secondhand and #RAM and they work good enough for me.
The company's anti-competitive behaviour has made me angry and I will continue my behaviour as long as this doesn't change.
I want a fresh Apple and not a rotten Apple.
Pay more get less seems to be the new credo of Apple.

I installed OpenCore Legacy Patcher #OCLP on an old 2013 #MacBookAir 6,2 to see if it could run #macOS Ventura. So far no dice.
OCLP was successful in initiating the install process and the system even rebooted into Ventura. But it's stuck at about 40% on the login loading bar. I was told the old slow dual-core CPU might take a while to deal with the crypto in Ventura so I should stick it out.
Sticking it out for 48 hours so far. I think it's dead.
@herrbischoff Coincidentally, I'm installing it on a 2013 #MacBookAir right now! My son's old Mac... It's stuck overnight so I might reboot.. #OCLP
Now running #macOS 13.1 #Ventura sweet as a nut on my aging 27" #intel 14,2 late 2013!
Still fast and snappy! Thanks dortania #oclp #OpenCoreLegacyPatcher
