* a shelly PM that is slightly underestimating the reader

@Ruth_Mottram in the UK it is possible to get negative prices as a household consumer. Prices are a bit higher than at the energy exchange because of grid charges for example. #OctopusEnergy offer such a tariff, half hourly prices can be seen at https://energy-stats.uk/octopus-agile-north-eastern-england
For Austria and Germany there is #Awattar but they do not take new customers.
Such tariffs can also get high, OctopusEnergy had 70 to 100 penny per kwh for 2 weeks in December.

Applied to join Octopus Agile Export today after my FIT fiasco with E-On ended after two years. Hopefully this move will go smoother.

I have also setup my Hildebrand Bright account. I am considering buying a Glow to integrate with Home Assistant.

An interesting day today. There was much more sun that predicted so the battery got back to 100% and is 92% at the moment. I am sure at midnight when the battery stops discharging it will still be highly charged. I don’t expect it to use all 4 Agile slots tonight.

The Octopus Agile rate for the past few weeks hasn’t been its best. I don’t want to say it bad, it was 10p per kWh cheaper than the 35p we would be paying.

We have been charging the battery with 3 slots and it cost around £2.60 to get the battery to around 70%.

Last night the rate was around 11p. It cost £3.10 to charge the battery to 100% with 4 slots. Hopefully the rate will be good overnight while we have some poor sun days

According to Solcast looks like this might be a perfect day for our panels.

The back panels still struggle as the sun doesn’t get high enough, but looking good.

I did the maths on my solar savings for January. It was £36. 28% of our usage was covered by the solar.

That sounds very good for January.

Very impressed by #OctopusEnergy - we have a smart meter problem.
When I called, the automated system grabbed my caller ID, looked up my details, and told me that my smart meter problem was being investigated – without my having said a word. At the same time, an email arrived apologising for the lack of metering, and giving me a link to a self-diagnosis and possible fix site where I could provide more information to help them fix it if I couldn't do it myself (I can't).
