"Metro de Lisboa vai crescer com nova Linha Violeta para Loures e Odivelas
O Metro de Lisboa vai ter uma nova linha. A Linha Violeta está prevista para o final de 2025 e irá ligar, à superfície, os concelhos de Loures e Odivelas. Projecto está em consulta pública até meados de Fevereiro.
Vai ser a Linha Violeta do Metro de Lisboa. Uma linha de metro ligeiro de superfície entre Loures e Odivelas, que promoverá uma ligação rápida e estruturante entre os importantes polos dos dois municípios, estendendo-se num corredor em “C”, ligando o Hospital Beatriz Ângelo ao Infantado, com transbordo e interface para Lisboa na estação de Metro de Odivelas. Projecto está inscrito no PRR e tem o final de 2025 como data de conclusão.
Com um total de 19 estações e cerca de 13 km de extensão, a Linha Violeta servirá no concelho de Loures com 11 estações nas freguesias de Loures, Santo António dos Cavaleiros e Frielas numa extensão de cerca de 7,4 km, e no concelho de Odivelas serão implantadas oito estações nas freguesias de Póvoa de Sto. Adrião e Olival de Basto, Odivelas, Ramada e Caneças numa extensão total de cerca de 5,1 km."

Since #NewYear here in the #Lisbon Metropolitan Area #AML in the Municipalities of #Sintra, #Oeiras, #Amadora, #Loures, #Odivelas, #Mafra and #VilaFrancadeXira the bus network has been replaced with the all new #CarrisMetropolitana and while there are a good bunch of buses that are late and maybe some that never showed up, I think it's a pretty big step forwards.

I went yesterday from #Estoril via #Ericeira to #CampoGrande, checked out the current situation in #Sacavem and then returned via #CaisdoSodre and the #LinhadeCascais and today I quickly went to the #IKEA in #Alfragide to have something to eat, and on my way there and back I felt such a big relieve about being able to go to those places now. Many individual connections have existed before but not with the same frequency and at worse stops, so it didn't really work as a network. People in #Portugal really work on #CommunalKnowledge so the change is a big shock, but when up to date I see almost everyone is mostly happy that a significant improvement is being made, because the previous situation was just plain shameful. My prediction is that if Carris Metropolitana manages to implement Google Maps support and live vehicle location, in about 6 months it will probably work better than the flagship bus company so far in Lisbon, #Carris, and the bus driver I told this to was like "yeah now it's not like that yet, but you might very well be right".
