People complaining about not having enough reach on the #fediverse don't understand why it exists.

If I may be so horrendously blunt, we're not here to whore out our names. We're here to build meaningful connections with actual human beings, not walking (self-)advertisements.

Please, just *try* to get a feel for this place before you decide to plaster it o'er with mindless commercialism.

I want to phrase this very carefully, because it is a risky topic to bring up at all
and the last thing I want to do is upset anyone. I'm aware that I am not only a white person in #Australia, but a recently emigrated one at that. This land was not originally white and the way it came to be majority white is troubling to say the least.

I'm also the least racist person you'll ever meet. I gravitate towards people from other countries, cultures and races. I would rather talk to them than to people 'like me'. I want to know more about them and how their lives differ from mine.

Having said that, sometimes I see posts from #Aboriginal / #FirstNations people that seem to have this air of superiority. I never really know what to do with that. On the one hand I can absolutely see where they are coming from. On the other hand it makes me feel uncomfortable and as if I did something wrong by moving here for love.

I guess it's always going to be a controversial topic and I'm probably not in a position to say much more about it, but those feelings are one of the reasons I decided to move away from my old server to a self-hosted one. #offmychest

The times we live in are in fact worse than the apex of the pandemic 2 years ago.
Like, back then we were so down bad, that people had more of that "fuck it, let's get fvcked up, we gonna die anyway" mentality.

Luthen apparently wants to kill Andor but makes little effort, and we know he won't at the end so it's no cliffhanger. Syril rescued his ISB crush... well duh, we all knew that would happen. And some stuff about loans, child marriages and non-appearing characters dying.

@Zoso reminded me of something that made a huge impact on my barely seven year old self back in 1991. Tomorrow, 31 years ago, Freddie Mercury died.

I have a very strong emotional bond to #Queen and #Freddie in particular, because this was the first music I was actively listening to. I was raised with Queen.

Although I was very young, I had tears in my eyes when I heard the news. I have tears in my eyes writing this now.
