Based on usage figures we reduced our energy usage considerably, to the point when SE owe us £800. We were paying £518.00 pm. This we reduced to £400.00 last month and with the fitting of solar panels and battery 2 weeks ago we attempted to reduce it to £300. SE said we would have to pay an upfront of £438.00 to do this...so we would have then been 1200.00 in credit... They let us reduce to £341.00 instead.

How is this right?

The energy #ombudsman are driving me round the bend.

Anyone else had luck enforcing #OFGEM's back billing rule (that you cannot be charged for usage more than a year ago).

The ombudsman seem not to understand it, which seems odd. They seem to think that if a bill from 2 years ago is recalculated and shows I was under charged, that I could be expected to pay what was undercharged now, even though it is more than 12 months later (actually over 2 years).

So my energy provider says, my meters don't match Industry standards and hence they are sending manual meter readers.

Trying not to take offense at the veiled implication that they think I am tampering with my meters.

At the same time I am wondering if it has anything to do with my ruthless energy optimisation via automation and monitoring.

Then again, I don't think everyone who does that gets a meter reader at their door every month.

How very convenient! As soon as the gov't 'support' for energy bills comes to an end, #OFGEM bring down the #energy price cap as well. So your bill notionally comes down, but you end up paying the same, or more. The #Tories: taking us all for complete mugs.

Don't understand why phone/broadband contracts are allowed to increase by inflation +3.9% every year, with a fixed term contract. The risk of inflation over 12 or 24 months should already be included in any price. 😠

It's a 14.4% increase this year.

Other annual contracts - your house insurance, car insurance, council tax, vehicle tax, gym membership - don't do this.

Almost as if #OFCOM, just like #OFGEM, exists to protect the providers, not the consumers.
