I checked out the c++ release of #oilshell (oils-for-unix in http://www.oilshell.org/release/0.14.0/) for the first time this weekend.
They're still ironing out issues (I wasn't able to build it on macOS, and was able to crash it with a huge for loop, for example), but the performance is on-par with other shells for some purposes!
