沖縄語の本が届いてペラっと見てみて気づいたけど、うちの唯一の話者は本で一般的な本島南部の言葉じゃなくて北部の国頭語の話者の可能性がww 通じるかなww

Got a basic text book of Uchinaaguchi, but realised the only speaker in my family might speak Kunigami, one of the dialects of Okinawan. I hope he could understand my language lol

My name is Tori. #Okinawan (#Shimanchu)/Japanese from Hawaiʻi. My pronouns are She/Her.

I am a #photographer by trade but currently, work at the Japanese American National Museum as a #DigitizationSpecialist. On the side, I work on a #podcast called, "Okinawan Voices and Stories" and an online #archive called Shimanchu Diaspora Archives.

I am interested in pursuing a #MLIS in the near future.

It was a very long day (not only today, but this week was...ugh)
So I finished only one German session with Duoling and one Okinawan session with Memorize.
This week I had an opportunity to have a chat with an non-Japanese person who studied Okinawan, and he told me I should learn it because of my ancestry.
