The cart entrance to the old Crown Mill on Washington Street in the Anderston Area of Glasgow. This Italianate building was constructed in 1862, but all that is now left is the boarded up ground floor. However, you can still see traces of the compaby's name as a gost sign above the door.

Cell block behind the old Partick Police Station on Gullane Street in Glasgow. The station itself opened in the 1850s and finally closed in the 1990s. It also served as Maryhill Police Station in the original series of the police drama Taggart.

A ghost building on Oxford Street in the Lauriston area of Glasgow. I love the way the chimney flues seem to have been extended twice as the now-disappeared building was engulfed by larger neighbours.

I've worked in quite a few historic buildings over the past 30 years, and underground tunnels... well they are all just myths aren't they? Escapes for Templar Knights, hiding illicit treasure, linking the monasteries and abbeys so the monks and nuns can have a good time (I presume reading books to each other).

But no, I was wrong. This one is really does have a tunnel.

Sculpted sign beside the door of the old Temple Police Station on Bearsden Road in Glasgow.

I've passed this small red sandstone building hubdreds of times over the years on my way in and out of Glasgow, but I never really gave it a second look until I noticed this sign carved on it the other day.

The rear elevation of 374 Gallowgate in the east end of Glasgow. Built around the 1770s, this groubd floor of this building ia currently occupied by Heilan Jessie, one of the oldest pubs in Glasgow.

My favourite area of Tokyo is Jindaiji. A green space to relax and enjoy the old style stores and eat in soba restaurants while looking at the koi fishes. This temple is the second oldest temple of Tokyo ^^

This is a great example of how new life can be breathed into old buildings, no matter how derelict they have become. Without the efforts of the Coach House Trust, I have no doubt that this building would have been lost, and despite the fact they must once have been quite common, I cannot think of another such coach house that has survived into the 21st Century in Glasgow.

It's also great to see an old building being uses in such a positive way.

An old coach house dating from the 1870s in Belmont Lane in the west end of Glasgow.

Originally built for the residents of the nearby Hamilton Drive, it had become derelict before being taken over and completely refurbished in the late 1990s by The Coach House Trust. It's now used by the trust as a community space for adults who have experienced exclusion from mainstream society.
