Love this stained glass above the entrance to Waterstones on Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow. This building started its life as a warehouse before being converted into the La Scala cinema in 1912 by Duff and McKissack. As far as I can work out, the stained glass dates from this original conversion.

Love this circular window (one of three in a row) on the side of the 1920s Waverley Cinema in the Shawlands area of Glasgow. Just a perfect little bit of design detail.

Built in the 1910s, it was one of Glasgow's earliest suburban cinemas. Designed by Brand and Lithgow in a classical style, it was constructed using Hennebique Ferro concrete in order to help make it fireproof.

Built for the business woman Catherine Cranston in the 1910s in a Beaux Arts style from a design bu James Miller and Richard M. Gunn. The facade isn't marble (as it might at first seem) but rather tiles made from faience Carrara-ware.

It opened in 1912 and closed in 1984. It has been home to a Waterstones bookshop since the 1990s.

This was always one of my favourite cinemas in Glasgow when I was a teenager, and also one of my favourite music venues in the city as an adult.
This was also the first place a film was publicly shown in Glasgow in 1896 (when it was still an ice rink).
