I feel like an saying this, but back in my days, if someone returned an item, we tested it to make sure it wasn't defective, then packaged it back up to the best of our abilities, and put it back on the shelf with an discount sticker, usually 20-50% off retail price. We never sent anything to the unless it was legitimately broken beyond repair.

What I learned today: that some people don't know what a churchkey is, or how to use one. (My mom asked her PSW to open a can of evaporated milk with one this morning. The PSW hadn't a clue what it was or how to use it.) 😜

Back in the early 90s when I was learning coding in Small-C on a CPC-6128 running CP/M, I read the advice that when outputting debug info, one should consider quoting string variables in square brackets so you can more easily tell where they stop & start when reading it.

I still adhere to that advice today
