BTW I'm generally sceptical about network-wide instance blocks and blocks that federate to that user's home instance. It should be every admin's own decision and user freedom should be maximized as far as possible...

Maybe an idea for the #oldhere and #newHere folks:

When I started to use mastodon/the fediverse more often, a few lovely people started to look after me a little bit and interacted a lot, and this helped so much to make me feel welcome here! And I also always had someone to answer questions.
I would love to pass this on to people who are now joining, so feel free to write me a DM or a comment if you're interested 🤗 (my interests etc are in my profile and my pinned post 😊)

If anyone else feels like doing that too, or doing that together, do you have any good ideas for hashtags?

Some advice for #newhere and #oldhere who are using #Tusky: I get the notifications much faster since I've installed Tusky from FDroid and use it with ntfy (also installed from FDroid) 😊
