Gaaaa. This electrical problem is going to eat at me until I can get it fixed. Already woke up at 4 am with a paralysis dream, then immediately thinking about the best way to run new wiring.
It is situations like this where anxiety + just enough engineering knowledge team up and make me absolutely miserable.
I will be waking up at 3 am terrified the house is going to burn down. Because I damn well know it could, and make my safe precautions are never going to be enough for the sleep demon. Imposter syndrome = burning to death in my sleep!
Then I start walking through scenarios where my house is systematically torn to pieces so the bowels can be replaced. None of which will hold up because I am half asleep.
Because the knob and tube is acting up/shorting out without flipping the breaker.

Damn it.
Add fully replacing my 1935 knob and tube wiring to the list of things that needs to happen Now.
Got home and the internet was fritzing in the office where hubby works. His computer too. He was done for the day, and decided to move his laptop elsewhere to charge.
Problems calmed down.
He moves his computer back. Internet starts with the power issues again.
I put my engineering hat on and discovered it was all the electrical outlets in the room. All flickering, and only that circuit. Not tripping the breaker either.
Looks like new wiring went from B list to Now list. Most of the knob and tube had been replaced already, but not all.
I've shut the circuit off and jury rigged power and light for the impacted rooms. Hubby will have to work from the kitchen with its modern romex.
Making some progress on my plaster bathroom restoration project.
If I was going to paint I was going to fix the weirdness. The cracking was much worse than I realized and someone had skim coated over wallpaper. So I've stabilized the cracks and have taped over most of them, but am still struggling with some well adhered (and moldy) wallpaper. If anyone has any ideas on how to remove it let me know!
