I joined #Mastodon a week ago. It was confusing at first, but here's what I've learned.

#HashTags are crucial to finding others you want to connect with - both followers or people to follow. Use them.

#CamelCase your hashtags, especially if they are multiple words. It makes them more readable for people using screen readers.

Use the #ContentWarning option more like an email subject - especially if your post is long (like this one). By all means, use it as an actual CW too if your post warrants it.

#Tusky is a much better #Android #app than the official app.

If you keep #replies as #unlisted, they won't clog up feeds but will be available as part of the main thread.

#ImageDescriptions are valued here as well.

There are people who know a lot more than me. This is just what I've learned by "reading the room" so to speak.

All that said, maybe a brief #reintroduction? I'm an #oldpunk, #guitarplayer, small 'a' #anarchist, and #vegan living in #ChapelHill #NC, into #guitars, #GuitarGear, #GuitarRepair, #bicycles, #hiking, and recently #birds (thanks to the #BirdFeeder).
