The annual Zombie Walk had fewer participants than usual due to a technical snafu in getting the word out. Still, it was fun to take some photos of the undead who showed up. My personal highlight? Zombie Dale the Street Preacher vs. Zombie Nun.

Several hundred schoolkids came through the Yardbird Suite the past three days for Jazzworks music workshops, directed by Fred Mack and featuring instruction from Aretha Tillotson & Joel Gray

Seeing youth with a diversity of personal styles, backgrounds and identities come together over a shared love of making music was truly inspiring, particularly in a day in which we are seeing cowardly bullies 'n hypocrites encourage hostility towards "different" kids

It's the Different kids who make history and create change. I'm proud to be part of an organization that supports youth choosing their identities, and actively provides them with the support and safety they need while they are becoming tomorrow's professional musicians

BTW - Bowie attended the Yardbird Suite as a patron after his Glass Spider tour stop here. I'll tell you the story if you buy me a scotch

I had a brief chat with one of the older protestors this aft in . There seemed to be maybe 50 folks there, and more seniors than I expected

The gent seemed genuinely confused, and angry, but really couldn't explain it cogently. Groups like yegunited, like all other nationalists with racial bents, prey upon vulnerable people. As much as the convoy types call ridicule upon themselves, it just left me feeling pity for their pawns

Keith from the Old Strathcona Farmer's Market has graciously provided concrete barriers to block cars from using Big Miller Park as a shortcut. In turn, he and his org will be given comps to Yardbird Suite shows for draws/partner use, and other bits of reciprocity. This is what neighbourly mutual support looks like among cultural organizations
