Can anyone help me identify this (no doubt antique) piece of tech?
USB-A male to a black box, about 1.5" square by half an inch thick. Heavier than you'd expect for something that size. Magnetic. No label of any kind.
When plugged into a Mac, it reads in System Information as follows (see image attachment with description).
I couldn't find anything close by googling the manufacturer and/or USB Product ID.

Out of the three, unused Windows computers I recently got up and running, I finally got one to run #DockerDesktop! I'm so stoked! Tbh I should have tried the highest spec'd one first but I went with the cheapest netbook first and then the SFF second. 😅

This third desktop PC is a small tower - Win 10 Pro, Gigabyte Z68A-D3H-B3, i7-2600/3.40GHz/4 cores/x64, 16GB RAM, GTX1050 Ti, 120GB WD SSD. I used to play Steam games with it.

Finally I met the requirements to install #Docker!

New gear day! Bought two USB flash drives for backup and bootable drives and a new 2.5" Samsung 870 EVO 500GB (finally) for the HP Mini 210-1100! The current drive is failing, fsck couldn't fix it and #antixlinux failed to boot. Can't wait to install it again. And if, for whatever reason, the HP Mini doesn't fulfill my requirements, I believe the drive will also work for my 2007 Macbook Pro which could be fun! #oldtech #870Evo #ssd #hpmini210 #flashdrives #DataTraveler #sandisk #samsung

Feeling nostalgic for devices that do just one thing. Yeah I can still get my hands on a calculator or a wristwatch but I wish more people were coming up with new ones.

For instance I would love a device that I can hang on my wall that just checks in with Metservice and displays the weather forecast in a way that I could read from halfway across the room.

The Canadian gov't pumped a LOT of money into Telidon around 1980. IIRC, it used the vertical blanking interval of NTSC TV signals to transmit data to the home. Can't help but think that NABU was an outgrowth of that. Ottawa had a lot of "high tech" stuff at that time, including but not limited to Corel & Gandalf Technologies, an early maker of modems & other early datacomm equipment.

Had to put together a robot image for work. Looked through my files for related robots to riff off. Found this. No use whatsoever but I had forgotten all about it and it made me chuckle.

It was made many years ago, after a visit to the National Museum of Computing at Bletchley Park (I would heartily recommend visiting both the museum & park, btw).
