@jdmyeepa Abby’s great. First met her through her all women’s old-times group, Uncle Earl. She lived in China for a bunch of years and that’s where she picked up playing banjo. This is my favorite of her albums, moving between old timey, bluegrass and Chinese folk. A Blast from the Past that someone reminded me of.
Project Firestart came out in 1989. It was basically Alien, the game, with the serial numbers filed off for legal reasons. I remember playing it in high-school, so sometime between '93 and '95?
Looking back, the game was WAY ahead of it's time. To play it now may feel like a Dead Space knock off, or side-view RE clone. It had cinematics, multiple endings, a survival horror feel, the worse escort-quest (before we realized how aweful those were). And remember, Sweet Home, the first Survival Horror, came out the same year as Firestart, in '89!
Tho, at the time, I was easily frustrated and, as with any C64 game, the load times were wicked long. I never finished it. I had to have my sister's boyfriend play the game so I could at least see a couple of the endings.
Still, what a memory.
