''Cranial , especially the nerve, are important routes of for HPAI H5Nx viruses.
HPAI H5Nx viruses have a broad neurotropic potential and can efficiently infect and replicate in various cell types.
Vaccination and/or antiviral therapy might in part prevent neuroinvasion and neurological disease following HPAI H5Nx virus infection, although comprehensive studies in this area are lacking.''

CoVid May Damage Your Tongue
CoVid attacks the smell receptors at the roof of the nose ruining the senses of smell but also taste. It turns out that CoVid also directly damages the tongue adding to taste problems.

That's it. I've had enough: whoever invented the vent mounted car air freshener deserves a special place in hell. In what world do I want to experience a scent so strong I can taste it? It's the vehicular equivalent of someone wearing way too much cologne. It's assault and I will not stand for it!

TIL New Mexico has an official State Question (it's "Red or green?"), which refers to one's preference in chile peppers. Now there's an effort to designate the scent of roasting chiles as the official State Aroma, apparently the first U.S. state to establish such a thing.

If this catches on more widely, we could be seeing (smelling?) other states touting their own unique pungent essences ... and the mind reels.

How CoVid Zaps Our Smell and Taste:
The CoVid virus causes a persistent loss of smell and taste not by itself damaging your nasal olfactory sensors but rather by triggering a vigorous autoimmune reaction.

If someone tells you that / tastes horrid to them, don't dismiss it as a preference or fussiness. It's genetic. OR6A2 encodes a taste that combines vomit, poop, soap and tinfoil depending on variant.
Please take us seriously unless you're serving vomit and poop with a soap-tinfoil sauce to everyone else.
