Sir Thomas Fairfax is one of the least hated War of The Three Kingdoms historical figure. Change my mind. I’d anything I’m very proud to be a close relative and a descendant of the Fairfax family

Oliver Cromwell did good, just he and his followers got caught up in the whole hero worship of him.
The movement was bigger but the result ended up smaller because of him. He should've ceded power once it peaked.
His head was put on a spike for public display but appears to have been removed after the "Glorious Revolution" of 1688.
The "reputed" head turned up in the late nineteenth century when a travelling show went bankrupt. It was acquired by a clergyman - who in turn bequeathed it to Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge.
It was interred in or near the Chapel there - although the exact location has to kept secret.
