The maid Effie says "Getting angry doesn't ever help...All it does is get you into trouble."
The elf Lord Blackthorn (admittedly not a trustworthy character but ...) responds "If anger never helped, then why would you have it at all? Some humans are born with extra fingers or toes, yes, but all of you are born with at least a little anger. It must do something of use."
They don't reach a conclusion but it's an interesting discussion.
