After many months of using the Preonic, I switched back to the Planck. Turns out I just don't use Function keys, even when they're sitting there as a top row. I did migrate over the keycaps, though. I'm still a fan of blank keycaps, but really like the look of the Mito SA.

Am I making a mistake by building an #OLKB #Preonic?

Sadly I'll need to use both a staggered QWERTY keyboard and the OLKB and I am worried I am just gonna ruin my typing discipline.

I have been using my 42-key staggered split keyboard for a few months now, only switching to a traditional keyboard for some games. I'm pretty happy with it, happy with the 15° tilt, and mostly with the layout.

One problem I am finding is that the two halves of the keyboard tend to wander a bit on the desk. I may put them at an angle I like, and then find them to drift over time (mostly rotating). Any ideas on a good way to keep them more solid? #mechanicalkeyboard #olkb

The PCB was untested, the case was untested, the module was untested, but now all working nicely!

#Firmware was buggy, but it was a nice starting point, so I also fixed it.

It's powered by a compatible cheap lipo phone battery. Apparently a single charge can hold for 1.2 years😆

I've noticed a strange effect while migrating to increasingly small and ergonomic keyboards (Full-size -> 12×5 -> 12x4 -> 12x3 + 6); the more time spent in the home row region, the more I feel disrupted by annoying stretches/moves. I used to hate ctrl and backspace, then avoided stretching for numbers, now shift is gone and I'm looking suspiciously at the letter P... There must have been a lot of floating before even while "touch typing".

I've been tinkering with building a tool to generate (dare I say beautiful) keymaps as SVGs for people like me who might have gone down the #MechanicalKeyboard / #olkb with #qmk rabbit hole a bit too much and would like to have a way to visualise their layouts.

Needless to say, what I have so far isn't beautiful _just_ yet.

It can already generate a starting point from QMK's keyboard `info.json` and just needs keymap layers to be added.

Trying to gauge if there's interest, boosts appreciated.

So... looks like I need to build another Dactyl Manuform for work, don't want to use a "normal" keyboard anymore.
