While camped at Toleak Point I was sitting quietly in the shade looking out at the beach and this deer walked down the camp trail toward me. At this point (maybe 8-10 feet away from me) it realized I was a human and decided to go around me on the beach, then it popped back up on the trail and continued on after checking me out for a second.

Heading North from the Hoh river you have to round the diamond rock headlands which requires a low tide. This is arduous during incoming tides — it’s more than a mile of rock scrambling. The reward is Jefferson Cove pictured here, which curves around to Hoh Head.
