Casual pencil and paper CAD drawing before machining. I'm just working out the order of operations... A parting tool may end up being used to cut those recesses.
Nice excuse for some turning and milling.

Taking a break from rebuilding the #OlympusBH #microscope - this evening I'm making a filter holder for the polarising filter.
Might need to re-think this - it's probably more suitable as a general light filter holder. While the handle makes it easy to insert and remove, it also limits the rotation.
The original is completely round - but obviously slightly bigger than my 23mm OD filter holder, which tried to fall into the light tube...! (oops)

Fixing the gummed up microscope stage next. I'm leaving the head until last because frankly I'm scared of accidentally damaging the optics.
Problem with this one? Solidified grease in the coaxial knob assembly.
