Don’t start fiddling with vlans late at night as it might ruin your sleep… just had to revert a bit of changes to get my network working again. But it’s not easy without dhcp and APs rebooting all the time so I had to recable and use cable connections and manually set IP addresses #omada #openwrt

Excited to see the "Firmware updates available!" banner in my #Omada controller dashboard.

Disappointed to find out it's not one for the blasted #ER605 router. One that is *needed* so I can do proper VLAN isolation.

Why #TPLink decided to ship a solution that doesn't allow established/related ACL rules is beyond me.

Okay, ich hab hier noch ein paar günstige TP-Link-Geräte, mit deren Roaming ich aber nicht zufrieden war.

Jetzt habe ich den Omada-Controller auf einer VM installiert und Holla die Waldfee, jetzt geht da auch das Roaming sauber. Und wenn man die eben nicht ausschließt bei der Suche (weil vermeintlich schlechtes Roaming), dann gibt es die immer noch für 35 €. Aber ich brauch ja jetzt gar nicht unbedingt neue. 😂

My $200-300 #HomeLab starter kit: Surplus Dell/Lenovo/HP tower (i5 or i7, be Haswell or newer these days) + $25 2-4 port NIC.

SSD boot + mirrored hard drives (ZFS) for underlying storage. Add a #PFSense KVM for routing, passing through the NIC, with a virtual interface back to the proxmox host. Container running Samba with mount points passed through. Container with #Pihole for DNS.

Easy then to add VMs for #HomeAssistant, #Omada, #Unifi, #Plex, etc. & NIC ports allow for #VLAN fun, etc.
