We received a generous donation of art books for the @EICAS museum library, and it was a pleasant surprise they were fairly well-catalogued!

This means I could script importing them into our #Omeka-S catalog at https://bibliotheek.eicas.nl .

Still a bunch of work to do the import and quite some manual fixes will be needed TBH, but better than doing it *all* by hand :)

@simon @tomcritchlow @datasette this reminds me I have both an #Omeka and a #Tematres site, from my master's dissertation research, broken, and I'm struggling to fix them.

@Omeka Welcome! About to run two in-class projects in Omeka again this semester. Trying to decide whether to switch from classic to S though….also might want to integrate curatescape…so I guess that plays a role. Hard things I should do in 2023, other than finishing my PhD which will be harder I guess... I think I'll need help to fix 2 sites I made for my master's degree using #Omeka (a tool for presenting collections) and #tematres (a controlled vocab sever). Both use #PHP and #MySQL and it freezes my soul just to think about having to deal with them.

🥳 Omeka-S is available in release candidate v4.0.0 with the following significant new features:

* Front-side, a fine tuning of what sections and their order you'll want to display for item pages

* Admin-side, you can now customize the displayed columns in browse pages

Official modules also have their own RC version available.

My own modules will be update when the time comes (I promise I'm on it).

🥳 Omeka-S est sorti en pré-version 4.0.0, avec à son bord les nouveautés significatives suivantes :

* Côté front, configuration fine de l'affichage des contenus : on peut choisir les sections affichées et leur disposition

* Côté admin, personnalisation des colonnes affichées dans les listes de contenus

Les modules officiels sont dispos aussi en RC.

Mes propres modules vont être mis à jour "quand j'aurai le temps" (mais je bosse dessus).

It was almost turnkey, very well-documented, and so surprisingly easy to start. I don't know why it took me so long to try this.
