In the United States, there is no #AntiWar party. Neither party opposes the military-industrial complex. In fact, Republicans and Democrats both love war.

Take, for example, the "liberal" Elizabeth Warren, who has no problem supporting the military and defense contractors. It's just that she thinks we need *more* defense contractors.

“In the 1990s, America had 51 major contractors bidding for defense work,” tweeted Warren from her government account. “Today, there are only five massive companies remaining. Defense contracting should be reworked to break up the massive contracts awarded to the big guys and create opportunities for firms of all sizes.”

Yeah that’s the real problem, Liz. It’s not that the war industry reaps huge profits from global militarism and nonstop warmongering, it’s that the war industry doesn’t include enough plucky small businesses. Won’t somebody please think of the mom and pop war profiteers? They’ve been forced to close their small community military-industrial complex shops by “big guys” like Raytheon and Northrop Grumman!

This is almost as embarrassing as Warren’s 2019 push to convert the US war machine to clean energy, saying “We don’t have to choose between a green military and an effective one” on the campaign trail during her run for president.

Forget the politicians. They are irrelevant. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don’t. They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying to get what they want. Well, we know what they want. They want more for themselves and less for everybody else, but I’ll tell you what they don’t want:

They don’t want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don’t want well-informed, well-educated people capable of critical thinking. They’re not interested in that. That doesn’t help them. That’s against their interests.

You know what they want? They want obedient workers, people who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork. And just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shitty jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime and vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it, and now they’re coming for your Social Security money.

"Sorry, But Hakeem Jeffries’ Viral Speech Was Lame"

We’ve certainly seen our share of theatre and optics on Capitol Hill this past week, haven’t we? Among them, of course, was Hakeem Jeffries during his speech following all of the drama, where he said:

“We always put American values over autocracy. But never violence over bigotry, the constitution over the cult. Democracy over demagogues. Economic opportunity over extremism. Freedom over fascism, governing over gaslighting..." [etc. etc.]

Of course, it should come as no surprise that liberals are absolutely fawning over this part of the speech. Hakeem Jeffries got that soundbite and the media praise because they love meaningless gestures. That’s all he cares about. He’s not going to fight for higher wages, medicare for all, or free public college.

An obnoxious A-Z list accomplishes nothing. For me, this was confirmation of what Joe Biden has been insisting since before he was even elected: nothing will fundamentally change.

Jeffries is more of the same. Nancy Pelosi 2.0. Continuity of the same old tired theatrics and empty promises that we’ve heard for so long.

This opinion may be disliked by some, but here it is.

Trump is just another distraction, helping both Democrats and Republicans to continue diverting our attention away from what's REALLY happening.

Yes, Trump is crude, stupid, boorish, and unlikeable, but he serves our corporate owners well, just as every other recent President has done, from Reagan (if not before), down through Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama, and now Biden. They're all part of the same hypocrisy.
