"Whoomp! (There It Is)" is the debut single by 1990s rap duo #TagTeam, written by members Cecil "DC the Brain Supreme" Glenn and Steve "Rolln" Gibson. The song reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot R&B chart and No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1993. "Whoomp!" reached #multiplatinum status and broke records for the number of consecutive weeks in the top 10. Though Tag Team is considered a #onehitWonder.

Listening to my #Vinyl #Collection - Album 112
Gary Numan – Telekon (1980)
#GaryNuman is awesome! He's influenced everyone from #NineInchNails, #FearFactory, #Blur, and #FooFighters
I've seen detractors call him a #OneHitWonder, but that doesn't track for an artist who has released 23 studio albums in an almost 40 year career.

This is a great article, thank you!
But as a one-hit wonder myself, I could not disagree more with Collingwood.

One of these days I'll take the time to listen to the full albums of all those #80s hit singles they're still playing on the radio.
I remember owning that #Aerosmith album ("Living on the Edge", "Crazy", ...) when I was a kid. It had like ALL the hits on it.
But what song did Cyndi Lauper put next to "Girls just wanna have fun"? Is it a hidden gem lost to time? Was all of the album actually amazing yet nobody remembers it? Or was it cringeworthy?

Bassist of my not-a-band sent me this gem: side 1 of a demo tape by #Dutch pop reggae #OneHItWonder What Fun!, who I've championed here before, including early versions of Let's Get Digital and The Right Side Won.
(Normal caveats about the term "One Hit Wonder" apply)
YouTube, 19:42, no moving images.
Name a band you wish would have stayed together and made dozens of albums.
Mine? The Impossibles
One Hit Wonders - a website dedicated to just that, from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s.
And while on the subject of one hit wonders, I've been bingewatching One Hit Wonderland on YouTube and this is a great episode, on The Buggles, and Video Killed The Radio Star. I knew enough about the Buggles to nod sagely when the presenter said their story was weird even by #OneHitWonder standards, but I still learned a few new things about them.
Today's #Dutch #OneHitWonder that's been earworming its way into my brain is "Windforce 11" by Dutch-Indonesian singer Nadieh.
The usual caveat applies: you should never take the term "One hit wonder" literally. Most of the time, an artist with the designation will have had two or three hits, or a long career in a different market. Nadieh made seven albums and wrote for other artists, and still has a loyal fanbase almost 30 years after her death.

#30daysongchallenge Day 2: a song I like with a number in it
This won’t earn me any street cred but this bangin’ #onehitwonder by #Amerie still sounds good and helped switch me on #hiphop at a time when all I listened to was rock and indie.
