Computers are going backwards at a staggering rate.

Ten years ago you could share a large file with your friends and family without Goog, (sc)Amazon or other CAGEMAFIA systems involved in the process — today, this is almost impossible, without #I2P.

If you thought #Onionshare might work, it was not functional last we tried using it.

@dukeoffailure @tanysfoster If you can arrange things interactively or with otherwise short delays, #MagicWormhole (https://github.com/magic-wormhole/magic-wormhole) is a decent way to send files, with the caveat of potential IP exposure depending on settings & options (easier to use #OnionShare https://github.com/onionshare/onionshare when that's a concern).

Also our testing indicates #Tor is #censorable and there is active censorship in the network, especially when #trafficAnalysis may be able to identify who is using a connection.

We have tried multiple times to use #OnionShare and the connection cuts out about 1MB into the download everytime.

So its not just #exitNode related.

This means Tor is no longer able to protect #whistleblowers and #journalists in #Australia (elsewhere?).

Seems #I2P is a way forward.

It surprises us that #OnionShare is so poorly setup to cater to #smartphone users.

Mobile versions are "not yet audited" and reportedly in "early alpha/beta state". On Android, it's available via a repo one can add to #FDroid, or Gloogle. On #ios one is required to use #Apple's #TestFlight.

Yes, phones may be a poor candidate for #hosting a service, but its sort of mind-boggling that its #apps are in this state, given how long the #desktop counterparts have been around.

We hope this changes.

I'm Mig, based in Melbourne, Australia. Since 2011 I work for a range of different orgs around the world as a sort of freelance sysadmin consultant - sometimes as the only ops person, sometimes augmenting other in-house ops teams.
