#OnMyWorkbench this week is a break from amateur radio and a focus on new projects! This is my university spring break and I wasn’t able to bring any of my active radio projects with me, so I’m running through some movie challenges and plan on starting to go through the book “Python Crash Course” to get back into programming.

That is a square cut. I’m preparing this slab to be re-sawn for a book matched plank. This week - the QDX digital transceiver. A neat little piece of kit, really enjoy working on it so far. Got a few more toroids to wind, so hoping to get it done this week before I get my break from all kinds of work! Time to finally get this thing on the air.

I met this cherry slab as a tree in a friend’s yard in early 2020. I have an idea for something really unique for another friend and this slab looks just about perfect. While I’m editing some of my older videos together into something more coherent, I hope to turn this slab into a unique kitchen item. To be very clear, I’m not really looking to do furniture repair but a friend of a friend asked and I said “yes.” Stability is the key factor for assembly and repair. Things break when they become unstable. It’s why your mother said not to lean back on your chair. This looks pretty straight forward. Remove the hinges and other hardware carefully, glue and clamp the broken bits and then return it to the owner. #woodworking #woodworker #furniturerepair #onmyworkbench #cedarchest

This edge grain board looks pretty good as it comes together. The corners are rounded and the first sanding is done. There’s a skirt to be assembled to hide the marble and some additional details so the board doesn’t slide and a finger indent.
