So it looks like there have been no bidders in the latest round for licences/support packages (because the package took no account of the industries soaring costs, like to UK's current ), while the 'relaxation' has been a damp squib, with few thinking its going to re-invigorate the onshore wind sector..

To be frank its like the Govt. isn't really interesting in ...

Oh hold on.... aren't the in the pockets of the firms?

EnergyCentral: "Maryland lawmakers pass offshore wind bill, state targets 8.5 GW by 2031" The legislation set a goal of 8l5 gigawatts or GW by 2031. Note 2 points. First, a GW is a billion watt rating of instantaneous power, which is 1 followed by 9 zeroes. Second, a GW is the typical rating of a nuclear power plant. So Maryland is planning to increase their generation with wind by 8.5 GW in only 8 yrs. Take that, nuclear. The only 2 nuclear reactors under construction, the Vogtle reactors in Georgia, are at least 5 yrs past their originally planned startup with a cost that has ballooned from about $14 billion to well over $30 billion. Part of Lazard's LCOE or Levelized Cost of Energy Comparison involves taking out all the subsidies, to 'level' the playing field. The average retail cost of residential electricity in the United States is about 15.3Ā¢ per kWh. Look at the onshore wind [combined with battery or hydrogen storage] wholesale cost of 2.4 to 7.5Ā¢ per kWh, offshore wind at 7.2 to 14Ā¢ per kWh, then nuclear at 14-22Ā¢ per kWh. Ask yourself how a nuclear power plant is going to be able to sell power into a competitive electric grid without subsidy. Fundamentally, this is why nuclear construction has ground to a halt in America. Economically, it simply can't compete. Ā  Ā Ā  Ā Ā  Ā Ā

For nearly a decade, there has been a ban on new onshore wind in England. Right now, the gov is consulting on the planning rules for onshore wind projects - and they want to know what you think.

I'll believe it when I see a changed but this consultation is a good first step. Looks like planning policy and renewables folk will be working over the Christmas holidays.

December has arrives & Beast of the East is set to bring snow & bitter cold.

Government policies over the last decade which hampered the roll-out of onshore wind power inĀ BritainĀ might be adding close to a billion Ā£ to energy bills this winter & developers could have built enough turbines to power 1.5 million homes, new analysis suggests.

Onshore wind turbines are easier, faster & cheaper to build to support renewable energy, as well as home insulation.

Apparently if you tag things you are interested in that helps you get found, but Iā€™m not sure if this gets picked up on other servers , , .Still working this out. Thank you for the below.
