Last week in the #ise2023 lecture, we were discussing complex class definitions with OWL. As an example for closed class definitions (nominals) I've chosen Isaac Asimov's original Foundation Trilogy...unfortunately none of the students knew what I was talking about ;-)

When you are asked to provide opening greetings for a scientific event, you know you are getting old(er) ;-) However, In my speech I was asking whether we still need ontologies (specifically for materials science engineering) now that we have entered the age of large language models... of course I provided the answers with the help of ChatGPT ;-)
