Today I had a chance to photograph this famous #LiveOak tree located in #Opelousas, #Louisiana. So for a belated #ThickTrunkTuesday I present the Jim Bowie Oak! This large tree is located on the south side of the courthouse square, on a small plot of land known as the Jim Bowie Courtyard, which is now between two cute shops. This courtyard is supposed to be the location where Jim Bowie operated a blacksmith shop. The Jim Bowie Oak is estimated to be 350+ years old.
