I've been playing around with "private" 4G recently, as I need to replicate setups that are difficult to do on standard public SIMs. I can't believe how easy it was to get up and running (for someone who has never done work on the "operator" side of the network). Install #open5gs, set your LTE cell to it's MME IP and PLMN/MCCMNC number, program a SIM card and off you go!
Sadly there is no "open access" spectrum in Australia (like CBRS) so it has to be run in a "closed-loop" radio environment.

Didn't get much else done today. Next step is to get the Nokia software and see what hardware is actually in there and how it's configured from the factory, then probably strip it down to a very basic config for test purposes.

Then I guess I'll try to hook it up to Open5GS (which I'll have to figure out how to install and configure, a nice little side quest I'm sure) to get it to do anything.

These things aren't exactly like WiFi hotspots in terms of setup.
