Häufig werden etablierte Formate, Publikationen, Reihen und Verlage gewählt, da sie als Reputationsgaranten gelten. Ob diese nun #Open Access sind oder nicht, ist dann oft zweitrangig.

Trying not to get in a fight over a think-piece I came across on here...
Please don't blame the #OpenAcess movement for the costs of #publishing in #academia. We are funded by the public and have a responsibility to make our research results accessible. Blame the scandalous prices for-profit publishers charge our libraries and our grants as well as our collective inability (apathy?), whether at the institutional or disciplinary level, to do anything about it.

Identification of Significant Association and Gene-Gene Interaction of GABA Receptor Subunit Genes in Autism
#OpenAcess paper about a topic in autism research that deserves so much more attention.
Understanding (and pharmaceutical treatment) of my own GABAnergic issues to a better degree has been vital for the improvement of my autism and a related sleeping disorder.
The first journal paper on work I was involved in to quantify the benefits of #OceanEnergy has just been published #OpenAcess in #AppliedEnergy: "A modelling framework to quantify the power system benefits from ocean energy deployments". This modelled increasing proportions of ocean energy within large-scale electricity systems, using an economic dispatch model of hourly supply and demand.

We’re celebrating #FluorescenceFriday by highlighting the #OpenAcess @BiologyOpen study from Siyu Yang, Mingzhe Cao and colleagues. They use #zebrafish to investigate retinal development and function and find that loss of flrt2 leads to microphthalmia.

Hear me, every noble lover,
All you that from love do suffer,
Listen, every youth and maiden,
All you, knights and ladies, listen!
If you but hearken to my tale,
You’ll learn of true love, without fail.

Our paper (w/ Mikko Hurme & Henry Railo) “Neurologically healthy humans’ ability to make saccades toward unseen targets“ is now available online #Neuroscience, and it’s #openacess.
We show that healthy humans can shift their gaze to stimuli they report not consciously seeing, however, these are less common and reliable (slower & less precise) than saccades to consciously seen targets. This ability seems to be based on pathways bypassing V1.
