After nearly 10 years I'll shutdown #OpenBookCase completely in mid November 2023.
I really don't have the energy and time to continue working on this project. I started multiple times to reimplement everything but then got stuck and abandoned it again... very often.
I'll try to find a solution to provide the data after the shutdown.

This is the very first impression of the rewrite of #OpenBookCase (https://openbookcase.de) so far. Frontend made with Bootstrap and a special theme and with StimulusJS. Backend is #Symfony .
I would like to keep the current behaviour and appearance as good as possible. The navigation is also only a placeholder. The popup info seems to be a bit large. Loading is a bit slow because for now I'm loading EVERY entry (about 9000). Still I'm satisfied for now. https://youtu.be/v-xVqJHKbxU

#OpenBookCase wurde bei Radio Q aus Münster erwähnt und ich sollte ein paar Infos per Telefon einsprechen. Das klingt so fremd 😜

Auch etwas gelernt: Scheinbar ist der 15. November der Tag der öffentlichen Bücherregale..

Nice progress today with #OpenBookCase 2.0 regarding to migration: legacy book case entries will be imported together with existing images into the new structure. Just also finished the "fluent" authentication which checks for the legacy password (and hashing) and transfers the user into the new structure with current #Symfony hashing. So users don't need to re-register in the rewrite :-) #php #dev

My personal #php project #OpenBookCase (https://openbookcase.de) had another peak on 13th of November again after a public TV channel in Germany wrote about it on their website (https://www.mdr.de/brisant/ratgeber/buecherbox-102.html).
Also I missed the 9000th entry on the page and it's now at 9001 entries of public book cases. I'm currently rewriting it from scratch with #Symfony 6.1 because it still runs on #Silex since 2013 🙈

So someone of a campus radio driven by students in Münster/Germany called me because they're doing a report next week and my project #OpenBookCase (https://openbookcase.de) seems to be a part of it. Sounds very interesting... Maybe they call again to get some audio footage from me talking. Hmkay... 😜
