Congratulations to Dr. Sarah Ryan, Director of Law Librarianship Program and Associate Professor of Information Science at UNT, on two recent awards for her book, Empirical Legal Research Services (2022), published through the UNT Libraries Open Books platform.

The book is winner of the 2023 Joseph L. Andrews Legal Literature Award and the 2023 Digital Publication Award of the Academic Law Libraries Special Interest Section of the American Association of Law Libraries. The Andrews award recognizes a significant textual contribution to legal literature of enduring research value, extensive effort, and/or impact.

This is the first major recognition of an open textbook published by the UNT Libraries. These books are created by UNT faculty authors and are free to read, download, share, and adopt or adapt by anyone under the terms of a Creative Commons CC-BY-NC license.
