@idnorton We always built with kiwi which integrates nicely with the #OpenBuildService.
@jtb i found a home project at #openbuildservice that uses native compilation with pure GTK! 👀 https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:alternateved/bleeding-emacs
it's fast :D
(Some of this probably isn't helped by using the magic #OpenBuildService cross-build functionality that generates _some_ of the Debian content for you. But even so, it's still unclear whatever I read and the output isn't helpful)
What's that? A development build of @cawbird #NewCaw packaged on #OpenBuildService? 👀
(Note: REALLY unstable and untested at this point!)

#TIL #Gnome put back the sensible sized icons in #Nautilus! I found out when my "restore sensible icon sizes" patch failed to apply in #OpenBuildService.
But the devs/designers don't understand why people would want icons that aren't huge and aren't too small 😐

7️⃣ If software is missing in #openSUSE, it can easily be reinstalled if someone at #OpenBuildService takes care of it in his home. The software gets a small repository where it can be distributed (similar to the PPAs on Ubuntu): https://software.opensuse.org
@mgiagante
4️⃣ In the #OpenBuildService not only packages can be built, they can also flow into Factory and then into Tumbleweed. There is no faster way to get your own software into a #Linux distro. You can also build packages for others with OBS, e.g. as DEB instead of RPM.
@mgiagante Oh, okay, hold my beer! 😀
1️⃣ Tumbleweed is a solid rolling release with always the latest software. It is a snapshot of the factory development, but well tested by #OpenBuildService and #openQA. If you want a rolling release, then Tumbleweed.
On @opensuse journey to a full-fledged notification system. The Open Build Service has put an emphasis on the content of the notifications itself and kept improving several UI parts to increase productivity and user experience.

The #OpenBuildService devs are getting closer to completing the Bootstrap migration and this time, they have revamped the Cloud and Monitor pages. Check it out - and of course give feedback!

I loved #SuSEStudio, but merging into #OpenBuildService, it's simplicity has been lost. Is there anything else like the former? I don't have the time right now to relearn from scratch.
