In other words, it's like a massive, self-interested world power introducing #ImperialUnits for measurement in a world where the #MetricSystem is already well entrenched with a claim that "diversity in standards" is useful.

Which, of course, is one of the reasons the rest of us can't have nice things.

Why is it that your software, Pages, is not compatible with the Open Document Format, known as .odt? #Word from #MicrosoftOffice is compatible with .odt documents, even if Microsoft is not yelling it out loud. So, why Apple? Why aren’t you joining?

@libreoffice hi, I am teaching my own computing course online based on software freedom in Indonesia since 2017.

This course helps people switch from Windows to GNU/Linux, or more precisely from proprietary to free software.

This course makes all students use LibreOffice Writer, Calc, and Impress. They always save as #OpenDocumentFormat. They practice #LibreOffice on all operating systems, preferably #GNU, in their computing life.

I named this course Teknoplasma.

@paolo in my own online school I maintain, all students submit their works in #OpenDocumentFormat and Microsoft formats are all prohibited. Thanks for sharing this important presentation I really value it.

@resist1984 in Indonesia, #LaTeX is not popular even in academics.

My students are diverse in age as I open this online course for everybody so many of them old and many of them also young people.

So my priority is to migrate them from proprietary software (MS Office) to free software (LibreOffice) and make #OpenDocumentFormat a public norm.

This way I achieve these things faster and better even though I do this all alone.

I have basics like #FreeSoftware Introduction, LibreOffice & #OpenDocumentFormat Importance, Computing Basics, among others.

It is still not obvious in Indonesia as many people do not know #LibreOffice at all and still use MS Office a lot. So I started this.

Since my course started 2017, many people got to know LibreOffice and further Open Document Format.

@tshrinivasan and this is same class looked from the inside with the students and their assignments submitted.

I teach with @libreoffice and I require students to use LibreOffice to join my courses.

They also do assignments with #LibreOffice in every class of 90 classes I held since 2017.

They submit assignments in #OpenDocumentFormat of course as Microsoft's format is forbidden in my course. See the right side of picture below.

I have currently 90 classes, since 2017, as approximately I held a class once/twice a month, so I currently I have 90 #Telegram groups. A group = a classroom.

Each group/class held a topic. So I have individual class for each of #FreeSoftware Introduction, Libre #Hardware, #LibreOffice & #OpenDocumentFormat Importance, etc. materials.

Classes are sequential, so once a class with a subject finished I create new class with another subject.
