It seems theres no end to #WoTC under #Hasbro when it comes to #DungeonsAndDragons #DnD money grubbing, Caught with their hand in the "Bag Of Holding" (again), in an effort to surreptitiously pilfer other peoples creativity, they've tried to Up a new #OpenGamingLicense #OGL wiping the 1.0 version, along the lines of 25% of your stuff is our stuff. and we can use any of it anytime we like, for free. Just another example of #CorporateTheft and #Deception at work. rip #TSR you're in a better place.

I keep reading #OGL as #OpenGL (the game rendering technology). It's made for more than a single moment of passing confusion while reading all of the #dungeonsanddragons #opengaminglicense news. I know the difference between them, that's not an issue. It's just my internal voice reading OGL as OpenGL.

Wizards of the Coast put out a statement about the #OGL and it’s full of PR marketing speak, surprise surprise.

At least they backed down, but they’re just biding their time. I’m not restarting my D&D Beyond subscription and will be playing different games to the best of my ability.

I refuse to support a company whose whole attitude towards this has been “oopsie whoopsie we wolled a natuwal wone”

It would be fucking hilarious if the consequence of this #opengaminglicense shitshow is that everyone discovers there's a million and one *better* rpg systems than DnD and go with those instead.

With multiple companies announcing that they are developing their own systems, the continued silence from #wotc, it's no surprise that #paizo is announcing their own #opengaminglicense. In the end I think WotC shooting themselves in both feet will be a good thing for the #ttrpg as a whole.

I was pissed off when I heard about the #opengaminglicense kerfluffle, but if #WizardsOfTheCoast walks this back they might be able to repair some of the damage this has done. If not, I know that personally my #TTRPG group is gonna start looking for a non #DungeonsAndDragons system to play once our current campaign is done.
