For this week's Creative Code Challenge by @sableraph : Fungi, We are exploring the world of Spores Through the Coding Environments : #SonicPi, #Hydra @hydravideosynth & #OpenScad.
Spores Breakdown'
The Sounds are overlaid via a mix of SonicPi compositions. This is to reflect the movement of spores as they can be sporadic and concentrated at the same time.
Plus reusing a sound made for the “Left Behind” Prompt as Spores and Fungi can be left behind
A coded 3D model of a mushroom being moved is done through Openscad
Then it is visually affected by Hydra and different perspectives(such as 360 and flips). Also reflects the movement of Fungi and a bit of a petri dish feeling.

Top xy bars complete! Hopefully I can have more siderails soon. I’m also planning on designing a drawer for the bottom slot. #3dprinting #homelab #rackstack #openscad

@mcdanlj @DreadMakerAdam oh, of course.
All of my most recent stuff is “source” on GitHub + STL on Printables.
Since I practically only use #OpenSCAD, I really dislike distributing source without version control and Printables doesn’t have that nor a rational way of distributing a bundle or files aside from a zip.
The other issue is the lack of choice in licenses on Printables (CC-*, GPL2). I treat my OpenSCAD projects as open source hardware and license it such.
Parametric and printable hook and loop that can be used Velcro but is pretty different and free! There are STLs but also an #OpenSCAD program for customization.

Made this in OpenSCAD, a planar plant support for long stem plants, fragile or young plants. I'm using a 6mm diameter pine stick but you can use the OpenSCAD file to tailor the design for you needs. #3dprinting #openscad

The 2023 developer build of #openscad is soooooooo fast. I love it. I should have upgraded a long time ago.
Nice surprise appearance of #OpenSCAD in this video.
I have enough on my plate right now, but I there must be something very unoptimized about his code if it’s taking multiple minutes to render!
New Book: "Make: Trigonometry".
The book is teaching concepts in trigonometry and basic analytic geometry using 3D printing and #OpenSCAD.
More details including links to the Github Repository with the designs and for buying the eBook (paper version on pre-order) at: https://openscad.org/documentation-books.html#make-trigonometry

Sometimes you work on a part for a long time and don't realize how unintentionally rad it looks.
@zrail If that's your use-case you are going to have a whale of a time, SV06 is decent starter machine as well from what I've heard, much better than the creality trash floating around recently.
For that kind of design work get your parametric design workflow down, either #freecad or #openscad are great options, freecad if you like buttons and confusion and openscad if you like code.
My first time ever recreating plastic gears. After buying a badly manufactured replacement gear for Road Show's Red jaw mechanism, I wanted to see what will it take to make my own. Here's the process so far. #pinball #3dprinting #cad #openscad #snapmaker

Getting back into the groove of things. I got my 3d printer calibrated and now I'm ready to tackle this abomination. It's an XY pointing robot that I'll use to calibrate a 9DoF sensor platform.
Sadly the design I'm sharing here needs a lot of re-work, as I have decided to go with stepper motors instead of servo motors. But the general concept is the same.

@paulywill #OpenSCAD is a little bit tough to get going on. The official docs are good, but they teach you “what” but not really “how” if that makes sense.
I keep thinking I need to do more tutorials on OpenSCAD. I’ve been working in the project on an improved, web-embeddable version but it’s slow going.
(And the keyboard stand isn’t a beginners project, unfortunately!)
@linux_mclinuxface what the best resource in your opinion to learn #OpenSCAD?
Would you consider making a tutorial of the keyboard holder from scratch?
It’s done! Quite a rewarding #3dPrinting #OpenSCAD project.
I now have a pegboard-mounted workstation in my shop. Way better than finding a spot for the laptop.
I definite need to do a little work on the bits that grasp the keyboard as a violent retraction can throw them off kilter, but I think that should be a quick fix of just making them wider.
(Action video in the next toot!)
2> What would the distinction between "compiles" and "executes" be here? Maybe the latter is not a thing.
Maybe this would be the #R of topology. Or that might even already exist because of connections between this and that only known by big stupid #science geniuses.
#algebra? #openscad only deals with intersecting planer polygons (words!) So for example some #math dweeb-sack can probably how many distinct "insides" there are.
Anyway, Manhattan Project of thing. If you don't mind. Chop chop.
