It's not directly relevant to my job or personally used tools, but I'm really interested to see how #openTF unfolds.

There are obvious comparisons with how #OpenSearch came about.

One thing I'm missing is a term. Aside from "fork" (which is badly overloaded), what are we calling these "formerly-oss-licensed-projects-that-get-forked-to-continue-as-open-source"?

Hey @OpenSearchProject, it looks like you removed the original authors' attribution from the #opensearch Python client in 6fcc78. I might be mistaken but that seems like it would go against what ASL 2.0 says about Redistribution. Am I missing something?

I was playing around with opensearch this weekend. It is complicated to setup compared to ELK, but I do not like the new vendor-lock way they went. Do you guys have any preference for logs/metrics?

I'm glad #OpenSearch kept the open source part of #Elasticsearch patched and buildable, but the basic experience of looking at some log files is like stepping into a time machine. Strip away all the plugins bolted on to handle interesting-but-niche use cases, and what's left is a version of #Kibana that hasn't changed in nearly a decade. I should not need to download #Filebeats 7.10 in 2023, but I'm also not going to set up some streaming data pipeline just to watch website logs.

Version 4.3.1 of syslog-ng is now available. It fixes a crash bug in #Python support, and adds @OpenSearchProject support:
