@rm4 2010, as an undergrad we used #ubuntu in our lab and for some projects. I went about 10 years using it on and off in a dual-boot, but not fully embracing it. About 2-3 years ago I started #selfhosting , became fascinated with open source and went full time #Linux! Running #Debian (servers), #arch (laptop and desktop), and #opensusetumbleweed (laptop).

#suse 7.0 was my first linux distro. I left around version 9 to a life of distrohopping. Sometimes nostalgia strikes and i try #opensusetumbleweed. For the most time there come issues from time to time where i abandon it again. My longest run was just over a year.

A few days ago nostalgia got me and downloaded the netinstaller snapahot 20230804. Booted it, saw that it found my intel ax201 (i always esc the green bar :)) just find out after that i have no network hardware? :/

Heute Abend mal mit #endeavouros gespielt. Ich bin wohl doch nicht nerdig genug... Entweder bleibe ich einfach bei #lmde oder doch nochmal #manjaro? #opensusetumbleweed bietet leider kein Cinnamon an. Sonst würde ich das auch nochmal näher betrachten...

Die Qual der Wahl ist Fluch und Segen zugleich :linuxmint: :manjaro: :opensuse:

If you want to use the newest OSS nvidea drivers I would propose #Siduction or if you wisch better HW support #openSUSEtumbleweed with #KDEplasma.
At my convertible either touchscteen, WACOM pen and autorotation works pretty well.

Laut @lmd laufen alle indi spiele gut und dank #SteamDeck immer mehr spiele. Wichtig ist hier nur eine rolling release distro wie z.B. Arch basierte distros oder #openSUSEtumbleweed zu verwenden, da hier immer die neusten Verbesserungen schnell einfließen.

I would prefer a #kde based distro like #Siduction , #openSUSEtumbleweed or #Kinoite which performs well which works well starting with 2MB RAM + SSD + a 64bit CPU with at least 2 cors or better 4 threads which should be supported from notebooks since 2000. In an older Hardware I wouldn't use with DE and prefer a windowmager only distro.

Also mit #openSUSEtumbleweed hatte ich eher Probleme das ich die geänderten Namen falsch interpretierte. Da der richtige meist vorgeschlagen wird, ist das aber kein Problem mehr. Bei BBB muss man halt vor dem grünen Daumen hoch sich selber hören und sonst den roten Daumen runter sowie dann neun probieren. Allerdings kann ich nur Jitsi und BBB seit 2020 bewerten, davor habe ich kein Mikrofon oder BT headset gebraucht.

KDE Wayland users! How do I turn off whatever feature it is that causes my mouse to 'stick' when moving between monitors? I can't find anything with the compositor/wm settings that seems to affect it.

Benutze #openSUSEtumbleweed seit es existiert und habe nur ein paar mal ein rollback gebraucht (openSUSE default ist seit Jahren btrfs was mittlerweile auch super stabiel ist). Tipp: die Anzahl der alten kernel (multiversion.kernels) in zypp.conf noch um 2 weitere ergänzen.

My #openSUSEtumbleweed with #KDE runs fine with Wayland at my #FujitsuLifebook convertible since about 1 year. OK, some small Wayland restrictions are still there, but not manly impacting my work.

@nixCraft i mean… If you’re looking for a stabler rolling release, you have #Gentoo (by default is less bleeding edge), #Fedora (semi-rolling release but I guess it counts) or #openSUSETumbleweed. I’d use one of the last 2 if you don’t like minimal distros

Same at my side. Use #openSUSE wit #kde since about 2000 I use KDE at SUSE, and I'm happy with it. Now I use #opensusetumbleweed as stable rolling release w/o issus.
