Thanks for OWA Mike, which is astounding!
I remember there was a small limitation a few years ago, when I operated my own hubzilla hub. OWA would work fine when going from my hub to any other hub, but would not (always?) work when I would move from someone else's hub to yet another hub (2 hops or more away from mine).
I never reported it before, and have been "offline" in the meantime, so I don't know whether it is known and/or has been taken care of?
@magnusmanske That's called #openWebAuth, and it's implemented in the #zot world (for instance with #hubzilla)
@thomholwerda If you want to use a software with the account of another software, they need to support #OpenWebAuth protocol. Currently, all #Zot familly (#Hubzilla, #Zap, #Stream...) support it.
#stream #zap #hubzilla #zot #openwebauth
@lakelady I feel that @mike got that right with #NomadicIdentity and saying 'no' to brands by renaming his #Zap work to 'Streams'. Site admins configure Streams to appear and do what they want (microblog, photos, etc.). Visitors who are logged into their account on any Streams site are automatically authenticated with that site on interaction, via #OpenWebAuth (magic auth).
@atomicpoet couldn't servers solve the 1000-copies problem with #IPFS ?
#ipfs #nomadicidentity #openwebauth #zap
I want to read from and post to #Lemmy communities from my #Mastodon account. I need to register on every Lemmy instance of interest? I know #ActivityPub is flexible and Mastodon uses a different "profile" of it than Lemmy. But I can't post a basic note to Lemmy from Mastodon? What use is ActivityPub, given that this situation is no better than posting from Mastodon to Wordpress?
It doesn't seem to count that #Hubzilla/#Zot got all this right ages ago with #OpenWebAuth. If Lemmy instances and Wordpress instances and Mastodon instances were Hubzilla/#Zap instances, it would just work.
#openwebauth #lemmy #mastodon #activitypub #hubzilla
@Gargron
I can't anwser on https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/issues/16380#issuecomment-859201400
But yes: from a user perspective it would be great if most of #fediverse app support #openwebauth
(For other users: feel free to answer on github)
@tcit @dada
#hubzilla #Mobilizion #openwebauth
@ericrogergarcia@framapiaf.org
#openwebauth #hubzilla #zap #friendica
@tofeo@framapiaf.org @gwenlune@mas.home.monsiteinternet.org
Plus précisément #OpenWebAuth (théoriquement indépendant de #Zot)
@richard@microblog.my-freedom.space
#openwebauth #fediverse #activitypub #zot
@richard@microblog.my-freedom.space

@bhaugen
What you want is possible with #OpenWebAuth (OWA).
When Pixelfed or Funkwhale support OWA, they'll be able to allow you to use some features on their instances.
It's already available with #Hubzilla and #Zot. I know #Friendica also supports OWA, but I don't know yet what features are available through it.
#openwebauth #hubzilla #zot #friendica
@crazypedia You shoud have a look to #OpenWebAuth used in #hubzilla. It's exactly what you want.
