Got new lenses, here is a picture of my old #pancorneal #contactlens. I wear these for medical, not aesthetic reasons. I have had two corneal transplants due to #keratoconus and these lenses are needed to correct vision afterwards.
Pancorneals have a larger diameter than normal RGP (rigid gas permeable) lenses to "bridge" over the cornea and correct astigmatism. #ophthalmology #eye #vision

@falschgold I _guess_ they work by moving slightly relatively to the eye when looking down, because the lower perimeter of the lens is held in place by (hell I don’t even know the German words for this).
But I don’t feel as if my regular lenses move on the eye at all, so it may just be the black magic of an optomagician.

Description: High power view of Descemet membrane. PAS stain (good for basement membrane). Embedded on edge with 3 layers visible. Thickening and lamination (layering). A few exophytic guttae (lumps), with further guttae visible buried within the lamination.

PAS isn't a great stain for appreciating nuclei, but there are a few surviving endothelial cells on the upper piece.
