The second development has been the clustering of #opinionpolls into two discrete groups.

One set has #Labour maintaining its previous lead of over 20% over the #Conservatives - the other sees it very substantially reduced - although still well above 10%.

There are no obvious differences in either the number of polls or their reputation between the two groups. So it is not clear why this difference has emerged let alone what its implications may be.

There was no discussion about what that would mean in practice, but there should be. In democracies, formal change comes about by voting - either in an election, or in a referendum. If #opinionpolls are now to be incorporated into that formal system surely there needs to be some rules? Are all random opinion polls to be part of the assessment (regardless of how dodgy)? Or only those conducted by ‘reputable’ pollsters? If the latter, who decides what ‘reputable’ means?
