something I'm on a bit of a quest for is to figure out what's going on with the hard Left / Center / Right panning compatibility and options with #opl3 emulators and hardware like #dosbox ADLMIDI the DAFM Blaster and Retrowave OPL3 Express. Nothing is standing out regarding how it's set. Is it per channel? Per instrument/program? Per taco or hotdog or pizza?

Another task I have for this week is converting #OPL3 serial commands 2 #midi and I don't know where to find the opl3 commands without monitoring a *virtual* serial port (because real serial ports in use are not easy to monitor) 😬

yay i did it! i tweaked OPBinaryLib so that:

1. you can stream OPL3 commands instead of reading them all at once. you can even reset to the start to loop. handy for real time music players: stream some commands, send them to an OPL chip emulator to generate audio samples, submit an audio buffer

2. it can be compiled so that the file reading portion has zero reliance on the C stdlib. all you gotta do differently is provide it with a buffer to hold instrument info

AND it's still backwards compatible with the old methods
