@samae @civodul The #OQLF gives « répertoire » as the translation for « directory ».

Francophone Quebeckers worry excessively [0] about the future of French. The #OQLF deserves mockery when it over-reaches.
But anglophones will not have their arguments and interests respected unless they can sympathise with the other side of the story.
[0] The decline of French as a mother tongue is largely due to immigrants with Arabic, Spanish and Chinese as mother tongues -- none of those will displace French, and their children will largely be francophone Quebeckers.
@gemlog @MMRnmd Praise for the #OQLF ! Well, their effort to coin new words *is* good work.
All languages, like other living things, change. But while change is natural and occurs for reasons, it is not the case that all changes are for the better. The purpose of language is to communicate, so does a given change make ideas clearer? Avoid confusion? Preserve our understanding of past writing? Is it consistent with the language? "Courriel", I think, hits the mark.
@gemlog @cypnk Oh, there are intelligent criticisms of #OfficialBilingualism , and there are silly ones like worrying about packaging. But it's generally best to let people express their opinions, rather than keeping them hidden.
I personally have no objection to Chinese signage, though here in #Québec that gets people in trouble with the #OQLF from time to time.
